<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small; text-align: left;">Every single day is a gift, y'all. Number one. Number two. It is a CHOICE!! Yes. Everyday you have to choose what you are going to do. Once you open your eyes it is up to yoU to call it. What's it going to be??? This morning is no different for me. Those that read my post on June 26, know now. Not my choice but, KP and I are getting a divorce. Today, is another step on making it real and final. We have mediation. I know there are those of you out there that have something bigger than divorce. I may not know exactly your feelings but, I am with you. I feel you. The struggle is real!! Like really real. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: small;">SO. It is mine and yours. Our choice to wake up and choose it up!! As for me and today I picked getting up and going to Crossfit. Well, I chose that after Tracy's text saying, "Are you sore? Ok, Good. Now get up and let's go!" So, after that then I chose to go! Lol. But. I could have made an EXCUSE and stayed in bed worrying about today and feeling sad. Right? Ain't going down like that. </span></span></span></div>

Am I sad about what is coming later? Heck, Yes!!! Do I want to HIDE under the covers? YES!! BUT I am not. I got up. I am glad I did it. Next, I'm going to go get my hair blown out. Then I am going to get dressed in my Brenduh best and I am going to walk through those doors and face this head on and head up! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I want you to do the same. Even if its just tackling the laundry. The dishes. The car repair man. Driving to work. Choose. Choose to face your day head on and with a confident smile!! You got this. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: 14px;"><span style="font-size: small;">Life is full of plot twists, y'all! Some good and some not so good! Best news is WE have a lil choice in how it ends. Cool right? So, whatever you may be dealing with I hope that you choose yoU. I hope you choose to be joyful, happy, loving, funny, witty....STRONG! And that's just for TODAY. Tomorrow is an entirely different day! Brand new. Clean slate. </span></span><span style="text-align: justify;">How fantastical is that!?!!?</span></div>
</span></span><span style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: left;">

Yay. Yesterday's post was really tough. I am so glad it is out though. I feel lighter today. I feel like everyone knows now. Phew!! I am not hiding behind it anymore. It is what it is. All the shame, embarrassment, and guilt the divorce has caused me to feel is gone today. That feels good to say. I am sure it will rear its head again but, I will just have to shove it away again and that is OK. Today. I am holding my head up high.<br>
<br>
Today, what ever you are hiding behind or wanting to get off your chest. I hope you can begin to let it out, too. Let go. And then let God take it from there. That is what I am doing!! Its easier said than done. When you are ready... yoU will!!!<br>
<br>
Happy Saturday to you!!<br>

I am not saying it out loud to receive sympathy, or to get attention or any praise...it is that reason I haven't said anything really at all. I want to say it now though because it is my life. My truth. What I'm living. I feel like I have come a long way in a year and maybe just maybe it'll explain some of my posts over the last 365. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">One year ago, on Thursday, June 26, KP aka The Boy I Like said he wanted a divorce. Yep. It still feels weird when I say it or think it out loud. But yes. After almost 18 yrs of marriage, 23 yrs together, and two amazing children later... I will be divorced soon. This has been a very, very emotional roller coaster year for me, my boys, and for our whole family. A year of many changes and transitions. One thing remains. I love my boys, my family, and Kevin very much. Always. I'm still standing. I have had to dig deep and find ways to be strong, stand and keep going. Things like running, working, Crossfit. Lol. And of course throwing my self deep into my faith!!! On days when it's hard to stand. I kneel and pray hard!! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I want to say to those that know and have known. You know who you are...THANK YOU. Thank you for the hugs, prayers, texts, talks, emails, cards, gifts... for your love!!!! I don't know where'd I'd be without your love and support.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So. Please know this is just my way of moving on a little bit more. Accepting it a little bit more. Facing it a little bit more. Living my truth a little bit more. Maybe also ending the whispers and wondering a little bit more. Please keep my boys and family in your prayers. Pray for KP, too. If you see us, you can hug us, talk to us, high five us, and love on us. And please just pray for us!! We need that the most. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">We all have struggles and things we are going through. I am here for yoU, too. Together we will lift each other up and find our light and keep it shining!!! Right? Ok. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">That is all. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">❤️,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Brenda</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">#thisismystorythisismysong</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">#truestory</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">#letthetruthsetyoufree</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">#dontstopbelieving</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div></div>brenduhhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13743652700522557897noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36769408.post-74279937629113547592014-01-15T09:55:00.002-06:002014-01-15T10:27:58.599-06:00Life isn't always picture perfect. Or is it?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Who doesn't go on Pinterest and pin a ton of family portrait poses in hopes to one day be on a family vacation to the whites sands of Destin, FL and have picture perfect photos taken to post on FB? Hello!! Me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes. That WAS me. This summer. We were invited to go to Florida with friends. So, of course I started pinning fun poses. I just knew we would have the BEST Christmas card picture to date! NOT! #pinfulthinking</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the thing. I can pin all day long. Getting there and actually achieving the pintography and pinposes is another. The day we had our "photo" shoot the wind was blowing, it was getting dark, my boys were tired and uncooperative. Pictures was the LAST thing they wanted to do. I was so upset. I kept watching ALL the other families taking their pics. Holding hands, jumping by the water, SMILING! Not my dudes. Our pics were a hot mess. When we got back to the beach house I literally cried cause not one was in my head, Christmas card worthy. Share worthy for that matter. A big epic fail! I thought.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I got home. Months later. I loaded all the pics on to my computer. I looked at each frame again. They made me laugh. They made me laugh so hard I cried. The ones below especially. You see. They may not be the best posed pics we've taken. Or ones that I would have thought belonged on FB or a Christmas card for all the world to see but, they are a TRUE representation of us. And my boys! They are giving me their true personalities in these pics. These pics are better than perfect they are PRICELESS!! I will look at these years from now and be so happy that these two monkeys acted the way they did and posed the way they did BECAUSE that is who they are. And I think they are PERFECT! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These pictures are true. No filter. No cropping. No edits. Full on Matt and Alex for you. For me. For all to see. I hope they make you laugh, too. And you know what? I did use a few of them on a Christmas card. Yup.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What you see is what you get. Sometimes, we do have those picture perfect hair, pressed clothes, everyone smiling pics. I like those, too. And yes. Those are usually the ones I share the most. Maybe because they are rare. Ha. But, this is who we are. Silly. Goofy. Crazy. Funny. And I THANK these two for showing me that, that way is the BEST picture of them all. When its not perfect. But real. When it shows us.</div>

You all know I love to clean. Cleaning up and cleaning out. I always have a Goodwill pile. My FAVE things to do. I love it!! The bags I fill are weights lifted off and out of my life.<br />
<br />
I always start a cleansing late Dec. early January. I clean out the boys rooms and playroom to make room for the new toys, books, clothes, and other gifts they/we received at Christmas. This year we even rearranged furniture. Boys helped and they love the change!!<br />
<br />
Another area I hit every January is the medicine cabinet. I look at expiration dates. I throw out the old stuff. Have a note pad on hand. Make an inventory of things you need to replace. Do you need band aids? First aid ointment? More ibuprofen?<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_UgGrPGODSSMCgUy8LgvE5-yiyIAv9YkgT9izCtmQOdF1r0L3AoMcTSx2MZTwJ0F7qM3cJiGiExkyIc_cqWTVZCazYa-vvrbkZ1idXZYB7vQkFvFRsZ4VgTs_m6WY3Ngv4S68/s640/blogger-image--553577270.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_UgGrPGODSSMCgUy8LgvE5-yiyIAv9YkgT9izCtmQOdF1r0L3AoMcTSx2MZTwJ0F7qM3cJiGiExkyIc_cqWTVZCazYa-vvrbkZ1idXZYB7vQkFvFRsZ4VgTs_m6WY3Ngv4S68/s320/blogger-image--553577270.jpg" width="240" /></a>The pantry and fridge are other spots I hit the first of Jan. Look at exp. dates. Change out the baking soda boxes in the freezer and fridge. I take out the shelves. Wipe and wash it all down. I throw out old stuff. Condiments that have been on the shelf a while that I know won't be used again or only used for a certain dish we tried. I add things to the list of things in here I will need to buy and replace.<br />
<br />
In the pantry. Same. Look at dates. Fill up some bags with foods you bought but did not use and if the dates are still good donate that food to your local food pantry. If you know a college student they might be able to use the groceries you collected you could give it to them as well. Does your refrigerator have a filter? Jan. is good time to check on that, too. Might be time to replace it. Ours usually has a red light on in Jan. Last year we bought, 2 filters so that we would have one ready for when it went out.<br />
<br />
Doing these things in January make me feel like I am getting the new year off to a fresh start.<br />
<br />
What are your January cleansing rituals? I'd love to know!<br />
<br />
Happy cleaning and organizing in 2014,<br />

The boy's school is celebrating with different themes each day. Today is Story Book Character Day. After MP decided at the last hour, minute, second that he wanted to participate... last night we brainstormed and brainstormed and then came up with this idea from one of his all time fave books. The book is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Arnie-Doughnut-Adventures/dp/0805062831/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1368709202&sr=1-1&keywords=arnie+the+doughnut">Arnie the Doughnut</a>. A book about doughnuts is one of his faves. Duh. Ha! Awesome part is we had all the supplies to a make his character here at home. Phew!<br />

<div>
I took a swim ring spray painted it and then glued some card stock on it for the sprinkles, eyes, and mouth. Then I taped some string on the back so he can wear it around his neck. Yay! Quick. Next time we'll come up with something more creative when we have more time!<br />

Alex's class submitted questions to, if picked be used to ask First Lady Barbara Bush a question during a video conference on Feb. 7. One of his questions was picked and so, he got to ask the First Lady his question directly to her via satellite. It was a pretty exciting time around here because of it. I just got video from that day just yesterday. My boy. Watch. Its really cool. I don't know though. They do say that kids say the darnedest things. Ha. Is he overly confident? Sassy? Nervous? Maybe a little bit of each. So, glad Barbara B. has a sense of humor about it all! LOVE her!!!--P.S. I am not that surprised that he responded that way. If you know Al he is pretty serious when it comes to his sports "opinions"! Ha. And a sports related question at that. ESPN are ya watching? Lol. Will AJP be on Sports Center some day? Hmmm.. I think. Maybe. How fun would that be!?! :)</div>

Alex had to read a biography last month for class. Then he had to do a report/presentation about it. He chose a book about John Elway, the ex-Denver Bronco's quarterback. He pretty much had free reign on how to present the book to his class. Be creative it said. So, he and I came up with a board game idea of John Elway's LIFE. We pulled out our LIFE board game and used it as a model. I went to Lowe's and got some paint samples to create the game board squares. KP helped with the spinner. Alex told me what he wanted the game pieces to be and then I made those. He did the rest. Each square represented a different fact about John Elway. Every other square had something like "you fumbled the ball go back 2 spaces" or "you scored a touchdown move forward 3 spaces" kinda deal. You started in John Elway's birthplace. Port Angeles, WA and the winning square/the end was Mile High Stadium in Denver, CO. After it was all said and done we all knew a ton of facts about John Elway! Did you know John Elway played baseball as well? Yup was drafted by theYankees?? Yeah. It was fun lil' project. </div>

<blockquote type="cite">
Are you like me and as soon as the Christmas break is over you start counting down to Spring Break? Yes. I am always ready for a break off with my boys and KP, too. Spring Break. Seven days of hopefully good weather and lots of fun! Most years we take a trip of some kind. Sometimes we fly somewhere. That is what we will do this year. Sometimes we take a road trip. Last year we went to Huntsville. Alex had done a school report about Sam Houston and so we spent a few days exploring Huntsville and the many places in the area that we could learn more about Sam Houston. It was fun! It was. For real. Who knew. We've also had a few Spring Break stay-cations. These are usually an over night stay at a hotel or motel in the Houston area. Since KP travels some for his job he has accrued hotel points that we save and use. The Woodlands for example is where we stayed once and visited the Children's Museum there, rode the carousel in the mall, and ate at some of our fave restaurants that we don't have in our area. Its was a quick get away where we pretended to be tourists.</blockquote>

<br />
We like to make the most of any Spring Break/trip. Be it big plans or smaller low key ones that we have planned. We approach each with excitement and awe! There is always lots of pictures, lots of learning, and of course a ton of laughing. Our motto is if you are not having fun you are doing it wrong!!!<br />

We try to keep in mind when planning for and deciding what to do for Spring Break, that it is that...a break. So, we try not to over plan the week and keep our fun to a 3 to 5 day limit. The boys like to have days where they can just hang out in their pjs and veg around the house and play video games all day. Setting a limit to the days away from home saves us from needing a vacation from your vacation. You know those. Where you are more stressed and more tired than before you left for your "vacation"!</blockquote>

So. This year we will be taking a big trip. Flying to New York City for 5 days. We saved up our hotel points and will be taking a family trip there. It will be MPs first time to NYC. He is excited! The rest of us are excited, too. We have our list ready of all the things we want to see and do in the Big Apple. And we'll be back with time left in the week to be at home and chill before the boys return to school. Then we will start the countdown over. This time we will be counting down to summer break!! ;)<br />

So. I am organized. Yes. But. What does that mean really? To me it means I have a space and place for everything. Everything. Everything has its "SPLACE". Splace = Space and place. Oh. You got that. Of course you did. Just making sure. If you have somewhere for it. Your stuff. Then you always have a splace to put it!! Yea! And this makes me happy when that happens. :) Your family can then help you put things back in its splace where it goes. It can happen. Becomes routine. It does. Sometimes you just have to get creative and find a place to put things! Example:<br />
<br />
Take this piece of furniture below. A dear friend gave it to me. Thanks, Keri. I love it. After I found a splace for "it", it later became what you see now. A splace for the boys craft supplies. Before it housed some odds and ends. See, I used to have a Rubbermaid box full of these craft things and would bring it out when they felt creative and then would open it up in the kitchen and then I would box it up again.<br />
<br />
Since, the cabinet just so happens to be right near the kitchen. Tada!! It became the craft supply cabinet. Now the boys have access to it 24/7. Well really. 12/7. Good bye Rubbermaid box. We have a splace for the "stuff" now. So, see look around and make things that work for you. Get creative! Make things flow. Find a splace!<br />

So. If ya don't know. Let. Me. Tell. You. Number one. I love Halloween!!! Two. I love Ellen DeGeneres and her show. Three. I have always wanted to be on a red carpet interviewing celebs. So, that is why this year I am thinking I will be Sophia Grace for Halloween. This lucky little bitty currently holds my dream job on my fave of all time talk shows!! Yes. Maybe if Ellen sees me dressed as Sophia she'll let me have a gig like her, too. A girl can dream.

If you don't know this super cute girl, Sophia Grace who just so happens to be the 6 year old version of me. Check her out on YouTube. She's a hoot. I love her and her enthusiasm! She's kinda awesome.<br />

It not only physically removes it from our home it mentally removes a weight from my shoulders and brain. It comes easy to me. I bag it up. Donate it. Or pass it on to others that can use it. Freecycle. I keep an empty 13 gallon trash can out in the garage. Everytime I find something we do not need anymore it goes in the "bucket". When it fills up. I bag it up. I know that for some this does not come easy. Be it sentimental reasons or maybe just being overwhelmed and not knowing where to begin. A friend shared this article with me. Its great. Worth the read. And maybe you have been looking around your home and wanting to but, just don't know where to start...this article may just be the encouragement and motivation you have been looking for. It is a great thing to do for lent! Get the whole family involved. Remember this. Getting rid of the "stuff" does not get rid of the memory! Its ok. Even if someone gave it to you. -B</span><br />

MP is in First Grade this year. Today he brought home some things he's been working on at school. We found this little gem in the stack o'papers. He was given this piece of paper with the picture on it and was asked to write something about it. Here is what he wrote. He makes us LOL!! You can click on the picture to see it bigger.<br />
