Good before. Better after.

Here are the photos of my latest flip. I got these two tables from my SIL. I had been looking for a sofa table to use in my kitchen as a buffet table and had been wanting to change out my coffee table which was really a trunk. When she got new tables I jumped on it and asked her if I could have them. She said yes! Thanks, Jenny!

I took the tables and gave them a litte makeover. Both were a light wood. Pine I think. I took the sofa table and spray painted it black. In Feburary, I took my natural wood kitchen table and painted the chairs and table legs black and stained the top walnut. See the link below to see the before/afters of that project. So, I took the sofa table and painted it black to match my new/old kitchen table.

The coffee table was also a pine color. Like I said I had a trunk that I used as a coffee table. I had been wanting to find and buy a coffee table to switch out for a while now. The trunk was big, tall, and just did not fit in my space anymore. So, I stained the coffee table a walnut color to match the other furniture in the room.I think it turned out great. I am beyond happy with my new pieces.

You can see the before and afters below. In the excitement of my make-overs I forgot to take before pics. Ugh. I did find some pics online to give you an idea. Let me know what you think. I hope I have maybe inspired you to make something over in your home. Its fun transforming things that you already have or seeing someone else's trash and turning it into treasure. Here is a link to a blog that I go to everyday. It is fun to see other's befores and afters. It has served as inspiration to me. http://betterafter.blogspot.com/

Enjoy your day!

And Now A Matthew Moment

This is a little dialog Matt and I had upon entering the Dr's office a bit ago.

Matt: Hey, mom.
Me: Yes, Matt?
Matt: Can I have your lollipop at the end if you get one?

From his mouth to my keyboard. :)

What's a little dust??

Remember...a layer of dust protects the Wood beneath it.

'A house becomes a home when you can write 'I love you' on the furniture.'

I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect 'in case someone came over' Finally I realized one day, that no-one came over;
they were all out living life and having fun!
NOW, when people visit, I don't have to explain the 'condition' of my home
They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been doing while I was away living life and having fun.
If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice.

Life is short. Enjoy it!
Dust if you must ........
but wouldn't it be better to paint a picture or write a letter, bake cookies or a cake and lick the spoon or plant a seed,
It is time to ponder the difference
between want and need !!!

Dust if you must, but there's not all THAT much time . . .. ..
...rivers to swim and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must,
but the world's out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair...a flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day will not come around, again...

Dust if you must , but bear in mind, old age will come and it won't be kind. . ..

And when you go - and go you must - you, yourself will make more dust!

These are wise words forwarded from a very wise woman. Thanks, Maw Maw Thomas!!

This is for you MommyGirl! The answers to your 8.

Kristi at Adventures of MommyGirl, asked me to answer the following questions. She was asked/tagged by a fellow blogger to answer eight questions. Once Mommygirl had answered her 8 then she decided to pass on her own 8 questions to a few of her readers/blogger friends. Me included. So here goes. I am gonna answer Kristi's 8 questions.

Oh, by the way Adventures of MommyGirl is one of my favorites blogs! I super heart reading AOMGs blog. Sometimes I think she is reading my mind with the things she posts. Love it. Love her. Check it out!!

1. You have 30 minutes to yourself. What do you do? I play Words with Friends on my iPad, watch something on the DVR, or Facebook...hide.
2. What is your favorite book right now? (Or author!) Ugh. My mind is blank. Sadly, I cannot tell you how long it has been since I read a book. The things I read are People mag in the car line. I miss books.
3. If you could vacation anywhere in Texas on someone else's dime, where would you go? "I" would go to the Lake Austin Resort and Spa. Since this is on someone else's dime... I would love to stay in the Lady Bird Suite please. I would, spa, eat, sleep. Have I thought of this question before? Nah. ;)
4. Do you collect anything? If yes, what? Yes. Dust. No, really I do collect...coupons. Coupons, I don't ever remember to use. No, uh, hmmm...do box tops for AJs school count? I do not have anything I collect at the current moment that is fun or worth talking about. Sad. :S
5. You open up your birthday card, and there's a gift card inside (Score!). Where do you hope it's from? (Horrible grammar...you get the idea!) Target! And this time I would hope to use it only on myself.
6. What is a household chore you really, really don't like to do? Dishes!
7. What is your favorite thing about yourself? My honesty and my kids.
8. What is your favorite thing about your significant other? His humor.

Well, that was fun. Thanks, Kristi! I hope you are having a fun day!!

Laughter is the best medicine.

Life is short. LOL everday! It does a body good. I LOLed a lot today! Thanks part to the mom at Target that shared an embarassing/funny moment with me and TG. We walked up in line right behind her as she had just discovered that her yoga pants had been on inside out the whole morning. She recounted all the places she had been with her pants inside out. We too shared our stories of our own clothes mishaps in the past. We all had a good laugh! It is always nice to know that you are not the only one having "one of those days". Have you laughed today? Even if it is at yourself?!

And Now A Matthew Moment

Matt: Mom.
Me: What?
Matt: Wouldn't it be cool if we were ducks?
Me: Ducks?
Matt: Yeah, so we could quack all day.
