And Now A Matthew Moment

Today after swim lessons Matthew asked me if he could use the computer. I said, "sure". He said, "I want to make a comic strip like, Alex." I said, "OK." I went about my business. This was about 5:30 this evening. After dinner (about 7:30), Kevin asked me to look at a website link. He wanted to show me something. So, we went to the computer. It was turned off. How nice. Matthew remembered to return the computer the way he found it when he sat down to it, I thought. I turned it on. Before I knew it the printer started printing. Hmmm, I thought. I guess Matt must have printed something but, forgot about it and turned the computer off anyway. So, KP and I looked at what he wanted to show me. I then reached down to pull off what the printer printed. Look what I found. Matt's comic that he made on Scholastic.com. When I read it I really thought I might wet my pants. He truly is Hi-larious. He sat and did this all on his own. I asked Alex, if he helped and he said, "No!" Of course I had to share (to see it bigger click on the pic). Who knows what Matt will think of next?! When he does you can read about it here. Lol!

P.S. We did have a little talk about his "potty" word usage in his strip. He said, I had to cause it was about Captain Underpants. True. "But, still..." I said. Ugh. Oh, and "toots". Don't know where he got that word from but, he uses it daily. And that is what he calls me. When I pick him up from school he'll say, "Hey, Toots!" Double, UGH! My boy. Love him. But he is only 4 almost 5! I am in trouble. Ya think??

Becoming Snooki: Halloween 2010

Its Halloween time. My fave of all the holidays!! I always like to find a costume of a current figure or someone recognizable from TV. Someone with features similar to mine. Most of the time it starts with the hair. The rest is all in the clothes and props. In 1998, I was Monica Lewinsky for Halloween. My hair was cut like hers at the time. I wore a blue dress (remember the infamous blue dress), had a black beret, she was fun to dress up as. In 2007, I was Ugly Betty. It was and still is one of my fave shows. Found the poncho on line. Fixed up my retainer to look like braces. Had a B necklace. See Ugly Brenda pics here: http://brendaandtheboys.blogspot.com/2007/10/ugly-brenda.html. For 2010, I am going to be....Snooki!!! The Jersey Shore is a guilty pleasure of mine for sure! Since the show started I have watched it. Its a train wreck I can't stop looking at. See an older post: http://brendaandtheboys.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-favorite-things-guilty-pleasure-on.html. I chose Snooki cause, well we are short, have long dark hair, girly curves, and well its so fun to mimic her Jersey accent and the things she says. So, to become Snooki, I have made some glasses that she bought in Season 2 of The Jersey Shore in Miami. Here is a sneak peek.

Here is Snooki with her Blinged to the max glasses.

Here are the glasses I bought at Lowe's. Paired with some peel and stick bling from Hobby Lobby. See below for the final result.

Here is my version and my final result of Snooki's shades. This is just a little glimpse into my "becoming Snooki". I borrowed a Bump It from a friend. My pouf is almost perfect. I will post pics of my entire look soon. By the way, I wanna know. What are you going to be for Halloween?

And Now A Matthew Moment

Here is Matthew spelling words on the fridge last night. Not unusual. He's been playing with these letters since he was two. Thank you, Cokers. It is this fridge toy that started him reading a year ago. Thank you Leap Frog. Now as you can see he likes to spell words that well...words I don't think a four year old should say much less spell out! I usually spot the words after the fact. Today I caught him red handed. I miss finding words like cat and bat. Sigh. This b-o-y is always u-p to something.

I got it at Goodwill.

I bought this super fun Jack 'O Lantern for 1.99 last year at Goodwill. I added the garland. I already had it and stuck it in the top of it and voila! A super fun mantle deco.

**I found a tag in the bottom of the pumpkin. It turns out it is a Poliwoggs designed by David Critchfield and Vic Fortunato. OK. News to me. Never heard. So I Googled it. Check out this site. http://www.ghoulgallery.com/Ghouls/Page_Poliwoggs.htm. If you scroll down to about center page you will see my pumpkin. This site is selling it for $69.95!! What?! Do I seriously have a collectible on my hands? Did not know. Thank you, Goodwill!

Driveway Dissection. Yes. I said it.

Got home from soccer & earned major cool points. KP ran over a small snake in the driveway. RIP. My boys being all about snakes were so excited. So, iPad in hand we looked up snake anatomy & w/a snake guide found what kind we think it might have been. I then busted out some gloves & a razor (not from my purse, TG but in the house) & bam dissection in the driveway. Don't show me even a pic of a rat cause I will freak way out! Snake dissection. Cake. Boys & I now know the parts of a snake inside and out. KP watched. Very fun moment w/my boys. An impromtu driveway dissection...and that people is how I roll.
