And Now A Matthew Moment

Here is Matthew spelling words on the fridge last night. Not unusual. He's been playing with these letters since he was two. Thank you, Cokers . It is this fridge toy that started him reading a year ago. Thank you Leap Frog . Now as you can see he likes to spell words that well...words I don't think a four year old should say much less spell out! I usually spot the words after the fact. Today I caught him red handed. I miss finding words like cat and bat. Sigh. This b-o-y is always u-p to something. Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry ®

I got it at Goodwill.

I bought this super fun Jack 'O Lantern for 1.99 last year at Goodwill. I added the garland. I already had it and stuck it in the top of it and voila! A super fun mantle deco. **I found a tag in the bottom of the pumpkin. It turns out it is a Poliwoggs designed by David Critchfield and Vic Fortunato. OK. News to me. Never heard. So I Googled it. Check out this site. http://www.ghoulgallery.com/Ghouls/Page_Poliwoggs.htm . If you scroll down to about center page you will see my pumpkin. This site is selling it for $69.95!! What?! Do I seriously have a collectible on my hands? Did not know. Thank you, Goodwill!

Driveway Dissection. Yes. I said it.

Got home from soccer & earned major cool points. KP ran over a small snake in the driveway. RIP. My boys being all about snakes were so excited. So, iPad in hand we looked up snake anatomy & w/a snake guide found what kind we think it might have been. I then busted out some gloves & a razor (not from my purse, TG but in the house) & bam dissection in the driveway. Don't show me even a pic of a rat cause I will freak way out! Snake dissection. Cake. Boys & I now know the parts of a snake inside and out. KP watched. Very fun moment w/my boys. An impromtu driveway dissection...and that people is how I roll.

Same Door. Different Day.

Took my weathered brown door and painted it black one year ago! Its held up well. Good before. Better after!

Good before. Better after.

Here are the photos of my latest flip. I got these two tables from my SIL. I had been looking for a sofa table to use in my kitchen as a buffet table and had been wanting to change out my coffee table which was really a trunk. When she got new tables I jumped on it and asked her if I could have them. She said yes! Thanks, Jenny! I took the tables and gave them a litte makeover. Both were a light wood. Pine I think. I took the sofa table and spray painted it black. In Feburary, I took my natural wood kitchen table and painted the chairs and table legs black and stained the top walnut. See the link below to see the before/afters of that project. So, I took the sofa table and painted it black to match my new/old kitchen table. http://brendaandtheboys.blogspot.com/2010/02/in-2010-continued-and-bunch-of-before.html The coffee table was also a pine color. Like I said I had a trunk that I used as a coffee table. I had been wanting to find and buy a coffee table to switch out for a while n...
