What the duck?

This duck @ the Brownsville Zoo did not like my purse. He would not stop pecking and chewing it. What a quack!

So Proud!

My sister is currently living in New York and working on her first Broadway show!! She is a Costume Designer. I am so very proud of her and I am super excited for her, too!! She is living her dream. Here is a link to some pictures and a quick blurb about the show. It opens on Broadway on April 20th. Two days after her bday!! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/24/ green-day-attends-final-s_n_512007.html#s75839 American Idiot Official Website >> http://www.americanidiotonbroadway.com/ .

Well my little town of Brownsville, today I leave you once again. Thank you for all the fun. Thank you for all the new memories. Marco and Lupita thank you for the awesome "Mexican" meal, for the great conversation, and hospitality. You are my family and I love you. And Now A Matthew Moment

Today it was rainy and cold. So we came to where its always sunny... Sunrise Mall in Brownsville. Matt has loved our indoor day. He took a pic with the Easter Bunny. Big brother, Alex did not want to. I guess he is getting to old for that. Sniff. Then Matt rode the double decker carousel, followed by some time at the play area. Last but not least he is at this very second enjoying two scoops of cotton candy flavored Blue Bell ice cream w/ Skittles. Phew! What a day! He is one happy road tripper. My roots.

We're still in Brownsville. Where it all started. My story. My life. This place is my roots. Every time I come back it is harder to leave. There are so many memories here. So many places I know. The picture you see is the house my parents brought me home to. My first home. The drive way looks so small. When I played on it I remember it feeling miles long. I performed many shows on that porch. And every time I climbed the trellis, I always got into trouble. I have family here. Aunts, uncles, cousins. Seeing them always fills me up with love. Picking up where we last left off. Being surrounded by my history recharges me until my next visit. Home. Hope the time change hasn't thrown you for a loop. Take a minute to think about your roots today. More from the 'camino' later. -B Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®

Outlet Malls make me happy.

Hola from the road. Today we had lunch in Harlingen with one of Kevin's friends and ex co-workers, Roxella. Then after lunch we stumbled upon an outlet mall. Score. Love one stop shopping for the whole fam and great bargains all in one day! So fun! Boys got new shoes, sandals, and fun Disney beach towels. KP got some cute new cargo shorts and pants. I got a super cute sun dress and cardigan. Now a little rest and some napage and then a BBQ at my cousin's later. Fun day. Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®

Tips From The Road

So we are on a road trip, and naturally I brought a stack'o magazines with me. Thanks for driving KP, thus giving me all this magazine time. I brought the latest InStyle that I just got yesterday. It is the April issue all thick and juicy with the latest Spring fashions. Gwen Stefani is on the cover. Girls, its a gots to get issue for sure. Oh, yeah. So. It is also, loaded down with many perfume samples. Here comes the tip. Do not try on all the samples at once! Especially while sitting in an enclosed area with AC vents very close to you. I not only smell flowery, powdery, musky, sweet, etc. all at the same time mind you, but now I have a giant headache AND the whole van smells like...me! Sigh. No bueno. From the road. -B Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®

Grandpa and Matt Road Nappin'

We are road trippin' it to Brownsville to see family and to spend some Spring Break time at South Padre Island. As you can see Matt and Grandpa are already wiped out and napping. If you have Spring Break off or not I hope you are at least out and about and enjoying this AB FAB weather!! Stay tuned for more from the road. -B Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®

And Now A Matthew Moment

I just wanted to share a few photos of lil' Matt. Here he is "waiting" for me at Alex's school the other day. I am on the PTO Board (Parent Teacher Organization) and my job for this year has been Photographer. I have been helping to take pictures of any events the school has to go in the yearbook. Matt usually likes going up to the school because he can see, Alex and because he likes socializing with the other students and the teachers. This day he was being so silly though! I know Matt, being silly. No way. Smirk. So, just before this pic was taken he said, "I will be waiting right over there." "OK," I said. Later, I turned around and this is what I saw. Glad, I had the camera ready. (: Lately, Matt has been making cards for us. I usually know about it because I have to help get any supplies he may need. The day I found this one he had not asked for my help at all. I remember it was a Monday because I was washing clothes and cleaning up from the w...

A New Table

The stand below was made by Granddad. It is the only thing that I have from him. I only saw him a handful of times in my life. My dad's dad, lived in Mexico. He made this for me. I love it! It still has pencil marks on the inside from when he was making it. (: Anyway, it has been sitting between these two chairs in our room for a while now and has been in several different places in our house. It is kinda small and not did not go real well, there, but he made it and I like seeing it. Then, I saw a picture on one of my favorite blogs. A round table with a table cover/rounder. I thought it would look great in our room. So, I went to Lowe's and purchased a round table top for under $20. Already cut and ready. I stuck it on top of my stand. Then with some fabric I got at Goodwill. Yes, that is what I had said. I got 5 yards of red fabric at GW for $3.99! Thanks for finding it for me Brandi! On top of that I used what fabric was left from recovering my dining room chairs (see below)...

An Open Letter to Facebook

Dear Facebook, Yes, I know I said I was taking a break. I tried to quit you. Really, I did.  You and me we have a love hate thing. I love you but, I hate how much time you suck away from my life. I love that I can connect with so many people but, I hate how the people that live in my house need me to connect with them, too. I love that friends old and new chat with me daily, I hate that I can't see them or hear them in person. So, I took a break in Jan. and most of Feb. but, here we are again. See, its times like these when my little sister is so busy working in NYC on her BROADWAY debut (very PROUD of you J.!!!) and I have not talked to her in weeks (here come the tears) that I need you. I need you to keep us connected. I can see her status updates and know that she is alive, well, and just busy. Too busy to make a quick call or text me.  Quitting you also meant that I TOTALLY missed it when Misty announced that she was moving to Denver! What, when, and why I am not sure y...

That Girl

You know that girl, the one that in high school you looked at and admired from afar. The one you envied. The one you wanted to be like. The one that had everything. She had the right clothes, the good hair, cute boyfriend, designer purses, nice car. She was thin. Perfect. In your eyes any way. "That girl". There was one in college, too. The one with good grades, cute boyfriend, tons of friends. And even now, I see "that girl" with the perfect hair, great figure, cute kids that walked out of a Gap ad, nice car, huge house in the perfect neighborhood on the best street. Do you ever wonder what happened to that girl? I don't know why but, I ran into "that girl" from my college years last month. The one that was so perfect. So, I thought. I saw her and I almost did not recognize her. She was about 20 pounds heavier. She had her hair pulled up in a pony tail. She barely had any makeup on. She had on jeans and a T-shirt. And her two kids were by her side fig...
